Aveda’s Secret weapon, Hair potion!

Pure Abundance Hair Potion

One of my all time favorite Aveda products, Pure Abundance hair potion, always seems to be the product lost and forgotten behind the rest of the fixative crew. My clients love that it gives them a 17% boost in hair thickness instantly. After you flat iron your hair, it can look too flat on the crown and or you have thin fine hair that really has to get motivated to give volume. Hair potion is perfect for giving you that little extra boost. its also great to give your hair that 2nd day dirty look. Have a short funky cut? Hair potion is perfect to help get you that texture your looking for.

Aveda’s Pure Abundance line is specifically designed to create volume, without weighing down the hair with product. Hair potion really works well with its partners the Pure Abundance shampoo and conditioner, but will work well with any Aveda hair care. Another great partner for the hair potion is the volumizing tonic. When the hair is damp spray the volumizing tonic on the roots, then I like to take the hair into sections all the way around the crown. Blow dry the hair away from the scalp, you can do this at home by turning your head upside down while blow drying. Finish out your ends as usual. If you are flat ironing, I like to direct it straight up off of the scalp, and separate your hair into quarter sections all around the crown. Now its time for the hair potion, sprinkle a VERY small amount onto your roots. Remember Aveda products are very concentrated and a little goes a long way! Now massage the product in with your fingertips for instant volume. To add a piecey look to your ends put a tiny amount of hair potion on your finger tips and pull through the ends. Now finish off your look with your favorite Aveda hairspray.

Brrrrr…. Its getting cold in Austin! I thought the summer heat was extreme but the weather change has really taken a toll on my once soft skin! Now my poor hands and feet are all dry and chapped. I wish I could go on a Caribbean get away! Or can I?

Embrace your lines!

Many ancient cultures took to studying the face for answers, some could tell you a persons life by the lines left behind. The Chinese however look at the face as a pathway to find your true self and happiness. Face reading uses the same foundation as acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Your face is divided into to halves vertically, the ying and the yang. The left side of your face is the yang or the male side leaving your right side to be the ying/female side. Your face does not only represent you but your family as well. If you are a woman and your yang side is fuller this could mean you put your brothers or husband’s needs before your own, make sure you are taking time to take care of yourself. Get your Ten Step Do!

Here are your ten steps:

1. Prepare yourself for the Do

2. Tools Needed: Curling Iron, Bobby Pins, Air Control, Hair Clip, Teasing Brush (not shown)

3. Section the hair and starting at the bottom curl the entire head of Hair

4. Spray a LIBERAL amount of air control on curls

5. Take the very top section of the hair, hold upwards and brush down with the teasing brush

6. REMEMBER: Tease it bigger then you want the finished product to look!

7. Smooth hair into the desired shape

8. Pull half of the hair back with a twist and pin in place with a Bobby, repeat with the other side

9. Get that Air control back out and go crazy with it

10. Smooth out the bangs, and then you guessed it, use more air control!

Voila! You are done, enjoy your fantastic hair!

Aveda’s Air Control Hair spray

Having thin hair (like I do) I end up using a lot of hair spray to give my hair body and volume throughout the day. Thankfully I have found air control which has a working hold. The more I spray the more hold I get! I can apply a light layer, comb out my hair, and then curl my hair and it holds my hair without being stiff. Air control is also brilliant for holding updo’s and formal styles in place, by just adding more layers! Having a product that is 2 in 1 blows my mind away! Just spray short bursts of air control over and over until you reach your desired level of hold. The hold is created with Pine Resin which gives it a awesome piney, clean smell which is a huge plus for me. Being an Aveda junkie, the best part of Air Control is that Aveda helps fund wind based energy to keep this aerosol 0 net impact. So go out there and get your hold on!!
